Repair cost differences

Electric appliances have fewer combustion-related parts but can have more complex control boards and heating elements, especially on newer, feature-heavy models. Neither type is dramatically more expensive to maintain over its lifetime; the difference usually comes down to which specific parts happen to fail.
Which one should you choose?
If you already have a gas line to your kitchen or laundry room, sticking with gas usually makes sense for the faster performance and lower running costs. If you don't have a gas line, the cost of running one often outweighs the benefits unless you're already renovating.
